Powered by RISE, a versatile Malaysian electric vehicle charging station was awarded RM20,000 as a grand prize at the first National Solutions Forum (NSF).
The forum was a collaboration between Sunway Group and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Malaysia and was organised in partnership with the All-Party Parliamentary Group of Malaysia on Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG).
The event had nine finalists, solutions to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-related challenges in Malaysia, which were submitted by the public.
Each finalist was awarded RM10,000 with Powered by RISE being awarded an additional RM10,000 as a grand prize.
Founded and led by Kray Chong, Powered by RISE is a Malaysian designed and produced electric vehicle charging station that can be customised with applications, platforms, and payment systems.
It also operates on blockchain technology.
NSF 2020 was inaugurated by Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah AO, in the presence of Minister in the Prime Minister’s department (Economy) Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, and United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network President Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs.
It was modelled after the SDSN’s Global Solutions Forum which promoted sustainable solutions.
Meanwhile, Sunway Group has pledged 20 million USD to the United Nations through the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.
The money is used to develop the Jeffrey Sachs Centre for Sustainable Development at Sunway University and to establish the Asia headquarters of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN) in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.
