The Pahang government, aiming to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) sector and meet the goal of establishing 350 Electric Vehicle Charging Bays (EVCBs) in the state by 2025, has endorsed the Planning Guidelines for EVCBs.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail announced that this decision, ratified during the State Planning Committee Meeting, provides a framework for stakeholders to ensure the safe development of electric charging bays, according to Bernama.
This move is intended to stimulate industrial growth and infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations, aligning with the objective of achieving 350 EVCBs in Pahang by 2025.
He further noted that this initiative is consistent with the National Energy Transition Roadmap 2023, which targets a 38% adoption rate of EVs by 2040 and 80% by 2050.
According to Wan Rosdy, as of December last year, Pahang has already seen 55 operational EV charging stations in Kuantan, Bentong, and Cameron Highlands, predominantly situated in shopping centers, parking areas, hotels, and resorts.
He pointed out that the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (2021-2030) report has outlined a goal of establishing 10,000 public EV charging stations nationwide by 2025.
By expanding the network of EV charging stations, Pahang aims to continuously attract tourists and EV owners to the state.
