The new Mandatory Standards for Quality of Service (MSQoS) for wireless broadband, effective from 1 April 2024, mandate that service providers must ensure average download speeds of at least 7.7 Mbps this year.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching revealed that, as part of efforts to enhance internet service quality in the country, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has also established an average minimum download speed of 10.0 Mbps starting next year under the revised MSQoS, according to Bernama.

Teo explained that the updated MSQoS requires an average download speed not less than 7.7 Mbps, replacing the previous standard of not fewer than 90 service test samples achieving a download speed of 2.5 Mbps or higher.
