Another new year, another new ROG phone from Asus. The company has been well-known for producing ROG phones with aesthetics focused on gaming, but this time they are switching designs for the ROG Phone 8.
Asus has set up a website where people can take part in a blind camera test and stand a chance to win the ROG Phone 8. The test asked people to choose which photos they thought were taken by the ROG Phone 8.
Once the test was completed, the site showed an image of the ROG Phone 8 in two different colours.
The image shows a rectangular triple camera bump, flat edges, and a much cleaner rear cover than the ROG Phone 7, with a distinct gaming aesthetics.
Additionally, the rear cover features an RGB ROG logo, along with the text “GLHF” (good luck, have fun) in the bottom left corner.
It’s important to highlight that the Asus blind camera test encompasses categories labelled “telephoto (x3)” and “telephoto (x10).” This strongly implies that the upcoming ROG Phone 8 might introduce a telephoto camera to the series for the first time.
Asus is expected to launch the phone at an event in Las Vegas on 8 January. While the company hasn’t explicitly stated that the new phone will be unveiled during this event, we can safely assume that the phone will be one of the highlights of the event.
