Another day, another round of scams. This time, the scammers are using the name of a big company to lure people into parting with their money.
Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) wants to warn people about a current scam that has been going around on social media, notably on the Telegram platform. These scammers mimic IIB employees or pass off their communications as official IIB publications, luring the public to take part in fake investment opportunities.
IIB is an investment holding company established in November 2006 to develop Iskandar Malaysia, which is located in Johor.
They want the public to know that neither IIB nor any of its subsidiaries are engaged in or connected to any kind of public investment or money solicitation. They also want to emphasise that IIB has no connection to these scammers or their schemes. The company has also filed the necessary police report regarding the incident.
The public is urged to regularly monitor the Amaran Scam Facebook page maintained by Bank Negara Malaysia, as well as Cyber Crime Alert and Semak Mule maintained by Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), for the most recent information.
The company advises any victims of the aforementioned scam to file reports at the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) right away in order to stop any further losses. This command centre was set up by Bank Negara Malaysia through its hotline 997 in order to coordinate rapid response for online financial scams.
Keep in mind to exercise caution and avoid falling for this and other scams of a similar sort. For further inquiries or clarification, you can contact IIB at 07-5353000 or email them at: info@my-iib.com.
