In December of this year, Malaysians will have the opportunity to apply for the Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Scheme, aimed at encouraging the adoption of electric motorcycles, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Bernama reports that the scheme is accessible to individuals with an annual income of RM120,000 or less, offering a rebate of up to RM2,400 to eligible buyers.

Anwar highlighted that the government welcomes investments exceeding RM170 million from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), Gentari Sdn Bhd, and Tesla Malaysia for the installation of 180 electric vehicle charging stations.

He mentioned that, aligned with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the government is providing a RM2 billion easy financing fund to support the national energy transition plan.

Presenting the Supply Bill 2024 for the second reading at the upper house of parliament Dewan Negara, Anwar stated that investment priorities will focus on the ‘high growth high value’ sector.

A results-based incentive approach using a ‘tiering’ system will be implemented, starting with reinvestment tax incentives provided in the form of investment tax allowances of 70% or 100%.

To build a more extensive ecosystem for the electrical and electronics (E&E) cluster in the northern region, the Prime Minister announced the opening of a high-tech industrial area in Kerian, northern Perak.

Additionally, to facilitate foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic direct investment (DDI) until approval, the Investment and Trade Coordination Action Committee (JTPPP) has been established, reporting directly to the National Investment Council.
