Xiaomi has been working on its first electric vehicle (EV) for quite some time and thanks to a regulatory filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we now have the first look at the EVs.

Xiaomi has introduced two model numbers for its electric vehicle – BJ7000MBEVR2, representing the single-motor variant, and BJ7000MBEVA1, indicating the dual-motor version, according to CnEVPost.

The dimensions of the SU7 are 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 3,000 mm.

The vehicle boasts a maximum speed of 210 km/h. The filing discloses that the manufacturing of the car is handled by BAIC Off-road Vehicle, not Xiaomi.

Xiaomi plans to offer three variants of the car – the single-motor SU7 weighing 1,980 kg, and the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max weighing 2,205 kg each.

The single-motor SU7 is equipped with a 220 kW (295 hp) motor developed by United Automotive Electric Systems, a joint venture between Bosch and Zhonglian Automotive Electronics.

On the other hand, the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max feature two motors with individual outputs of 220 kW (295 hp) and 275 kW (368 hp), capable of combining to deliver a total of 660 hp.

Powering the SU7 is lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by BYD affiliate FinDreams, while the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max utilize Li-ion ternary batteries from CATL. Rumors suggest that Xiaomi’s SU7 employs an 800V architecture.

Xiaomi is reportedly set to commence mass production of the SU7 in December, with plans to launch the car in February 2024. Speculations hint at a price below CNY300,000 (~RM194,000) for the SU7.
