Samsung has introduced a significant update to its cloud storage service by launching “Temporary Cloud Backup,” which offers users unlimited free storage for up to 30 days.

With this service, users can upload data from their smartphones or computers to Samsung Cloud storage for future use, such as when they are waiting for the delivery of a new device or when they need to get their smartphone repaired.

Temporary Cloud Backup is entirely free and has no overall storage limit, although individual file sizes are limited to 100GB.

This offer encompasses all types of data, including audio, video, documents, and even private files within the Secure Folder.

Samsung assures that the uploaded data will be securely retained for up to 30 days from the initial backup date, during which time users can restore it at their convenience. After 30 days, the data will be automatically deleted.

Temporary Cloud Backup is not confined to Samsung apps and services alone; it also supports third-party apps. This service is provided as part of Maintenance Mode, a privacy feature that allows users to prevent unauthorised individuals from accessing their personal information when submitting a device for repairs.

This new backup service guarantees the safe preservation of all data on the device for recovery after repairs.

Samsung has stated that Temporary Cloud Backup will help mitigate the risks associated with users losing access to data on lost, stolen, or damaged smartphones and tablets.

The process is additionally safeguarded by Samsung Account’s two-factor authentication, ensuring that the data remains protected from unauthorised access.

This new feature will be made available worldwide in the fall for all Galaxy smartphones and tablets running One UI 6, commencing with Galaxy S and Z series smartphones in South Korea.
