Tesla Malaysia just announced that their first Tesla Supercharging station in the country is now open at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

With the official launch of Tesla Malaysia in July, this represents a significant milestone and Tesla’s ongoing commitment to supporting Malaysia’s transition to sustainable energy.

The Pavilion KL Supercharging station, equipped with 8 Superchargers, is strategically located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur to facilitate seamless charging and ownership of all Tesla vehicles in the region.

Integrated support for the Tesla vehicle and mobile app enables owners to effortlessly navigate, precondition the vehicle battery, and access the charging station for fast and hassle-free charging experience. This includes real-time monitoring of charger availability, charging status, payment, and technical support, etc.

Leveraging the V3 Supercharger which has a peak efficiency of 250kW, Tesla said a Model Y performance can regain up to 270km of charge in just 15 minutes.

The company also added that they are committed to expanding its charging network in Malaysia, with more charging stations opening soon.

According to Tesla, there are only 12 Superchargers at the moment, including the one at Pavilion KL. Five in the Klang Valley, at Dengkil and Petaling Jaya in Selangor, and at Bukit Jalil and two other locations in KL.

Two Superchargers are situated in the northern part of the country, specifically in Ipoh and Perai within the Penang area. Meanwhile, the southern region hosts two Superchargers, located in Negeri Sembilan and Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

This is the Supercharging rates:

Please be aware that if you complete the charging process and continue to leave your car stationed at the charging point, you will be charged up to RM4 per minute, as a penalty for occupying the spot unnecessarily.

However, if you unplug and relocate your vehicle within five minutes after concluding the charging session, you won’t be charged the idle fee.

While these idle fees effectively discourage individuals from hogging the charging stations, there’s a question regarding whether Tesla or Pavilion has plans to address situations where a Tesla car is parked at a Supercharger without being connected for charging.

Also, take note that these Superchargers are for charging Tesla vehicles only. But fret not, because Shell is setting up their own chargers right next to Tesla’s Superchargers.
