Just recently, a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl was caught on camera for allegedly engaging in an indecent act at a car park in Johor. Someone took a video recording of the couple, shared the video on social media and it went viral.

The Star reports that the Communications and Digital Ministry will collaborate with the police to investigate a video that shows a couple behaving indecently according to Teo Nie Ching, the deputy minister.

She added that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has labelled the video as “pornographic,” which violates Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

This section prohibits uploading content with the intention of offending others or content that is pornographic in nature. People who post such content on social media may face investigation and charges under this section.

MCMC is urging individuals to stop sharing the video, as doing so is an offense. Section 233 of the Act specifies the improper use of network facilities or services, and violating it can result in a maximum fine of RM50,000, a maximum jail term of one year, or both, and a further fine of RM1,000 for each day the offense continues.
