If you still have a device running on Android KitKat, it’s time to upgrade as the platform will no longer get Google Play support starting next month.

Google’s Android Developers Blog announced that it will not be receiving updates as the number of active devices that run on that version of the OS is below 1% as of July 2023.

Therefore, we are no longer supporting KK in future releases of Google Play services. KK devices will not receive versions of the Play Services APK beyond 23.30.99.

Android 4.4, also known as Android KitKat, was first introduced to consumers almost ten years ago on 31 October 2013. It was the successor to Android 4.3 (Jellybean) and the predecessor to Android 5 (Lollipop).

According to Google, this version of Android was designed to run fast, smooth, and responsively on a much broader range of devices, including entry-level devices that only have 512MB of RAM.
