A good mobile coverage is crucial for tourism as it significantly impacts travellers’ experiences and safety. It allows easy access to maps, directions, and local recommendations, simplifying navigation in unfamiliar places. Tourists can instantly research attractions, book accommodations, and make reservations, enabling flexible itineraries. Reliable coverage ensures constant communication, keeping tourists connected with loved ones, sharing experiences, and seeking help during emergencies.

It also aids language translation, provides online reviews, and enhances informed decision-making. Mobile coverage enhances convenience, safety, connectivity, and access to vital resources, making it indispensable for modern tourism.

Malay Mail reports that Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has called on telecommunications companies in the country to enhance their service quality, specifically focusing on internet access in tourist destinations.

He emphasised the importance of addressing this matter seriously to ensure customer satisfaction. He acknowledged that certain tourist areas were experiencing problems with internet and telecommunications coverage despite consumers paying substantial amounts for specific packages.

Fahmi stressed that customers should be able to enjoy the expected level of service regardless of their location. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), will continue to prioritise resolving this issue for the benefit of the public.

He also stated that the telecommunications companies would be held accountable for rectifying the problem and that it would not be considered “business as usual”. The minister also commended the media for highlighting internet coverage issues and expressed confidence that such reporting would motivate the involved service providers to address the issues promptly.
