When it comes to short videos format, TikTok is undoubtedly the king right now. Other social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Youtube are still trying to compete in this space. Facebook is trying to revamp its app so they can be like TikTok. Now Youtube is also doing something to get more people to post on Youtube Shorts.

The video-sharing site giant just announced yesterday, that you can now cut your own long-form YouTube videos down to 60 seconds and create Shorts, using the same editing tools.

Videos used to produce Shorts will link back to the original long-form videos so that anybody watching your Short may also watch the original. It’s important to note that only the original author will be allowed to transfer long-form videos into Shorts since other creators cannot use this tool on content that doesn’t belong to them.

This new feature will also transform your 16:9 aspect ratio videos into the 9:16 aspect ratio that Shorts use, and the update is out now for iOS and Android users.
