The well-known Taiwanese brand hardware and electronics company has just announced a selection of laptops, a mini desktop and All-In-One for Malaysians during its annual Acer Day event in Pavilion Bukit Jalil and this year is all about being environmentally-friendly and sustainable. So the company manufactured some of the devices from recycled plastic. Let’s skip the talk and get on with what they have to offer.

The star of the show is this laptop, the Acer TravelMate Vero. The company says the laptop features 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic in its construction and ships in 100% recyclable packaging.

Despite being made from PCR plastic, the laptop passed the military standard for toughness and durability tests. Under the hood, the laptop is powered by Intel Core i5-1155G7 with Intel Iris Xe Graphics. It has 8GB DRR4 RAM with 1TB of NVMe SSD storage and a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display.

If you purchase the new TravelMate Vero before 30 September 2022, you will be eligible to redeem a free Acer Thin & Light USB Wireless Mouse, Urban Backpack as well as RM120 worth of Touch n’ Go eWallet credit. Purchases made during the Acer Day 2022 roadshow will enjoy an additional RM200 off.

Next up is the Acer Veriton Vero Mini. This one-litre mini desktop is made with 25% PCR plastic in its ventilated chassis and ships with a 100% recyclable box. Inside the mini box, it is packing an Intel 12th gen processor, i5-12400 with Intel UHD Graphics 730.

It has 8GB of DDR4 RAM (upgradable to 64GB dual-channel memory) and a 256GB NVMe SSD. Since this is made for businesses, the mini desktop comes with some security features such as File & Folder Encryption, File Shredder, HDD Password Protection and a few others.

Another computer made for the business crowd is the Acer Veriton Vero All-In-One (AIO). The AIO consists of 30% PCR material in its construction and comes with a keyboard and mouse which are also made of PCR material. The AIO is also shipped in 100% recyclable packaging, and comes with a screwless back cover that can be easily removed for upgrades and maintenance.

The AIO is rocking the same spec as the Veriton Vero Mini but has a 512GB NVMe SSD and a 23.8-inch FHD LED display, 16:9 aspect ratio with 250-nit of brightness. It also comes with the same security features as the mini desktop.

The AIO has a few unique features, the webcam can be hidden by just folding it away and it is equipped with an InfraRed (IR) scanner for facial recognition and integrated Tobii Aware smart technology, which will automatically blur when users step away from the device and lock the screen shortly thereafter.

Now let’s take a look at laptops made for the general consumers. The top-of-the-line laptop for the entire event is the Acer Swift 5. This thin and light, powerful machine was made from CNC-machined Aerospace Grade Aluminium.

Under the hood, it is packing the latest Intel 12th gen Core with support up to i7-1260P and Intel Iris Xe Graphics. It comes with up to 16GB dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB NVMe SSD.

The Acer Swift 5 has an incredible screen. The display is touch-capable, with thin bezels on all four sides, a 92.22% screen-to-body ratio and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It also has Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass to protect touch surfaces and keep them clean.

The laptop features an upgraded cooling system to keep the machine cool under load and the touchpad is made from ocean-bound plastic waste, providing a glass-like tactile feeling while supporting multi-finger gestures.

To enhance your online video meeting experience, Acer has fitted this laptop with a FHD webcam with SHDR (Super High Dynamic Range imaging) that promises to make you look better.

If you purchase the new Acer Swift 5 before 30 September 2022, you can redeem a Sleeve Case, Urban Backpack and RM120 worth of Touch n’ Go eWallet credit, while an additional RM100 off will be available during the ongoing Acer Day roadshow until 7 August 2022.

For the more affordable laptops, Acer has two laptops for those who are a little tight on budget but still want a capable computer for general usage.

Acer Aspire 5 and Aspire 3 support the latest Intel 12th gen processor and come with a minimum of 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB NVMe SSD, with additional slots for RAM and HDD upgrades.

The Aspire 5 has an option for a dedicated GPU, an Nvidia GeForce MX550 with 2GB of VRAM, for demanding tasks such as video and photo editing.

Both laptops come equipped with a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display but Aspire 5 has a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port that allows you to connect it to a 4K monitor or an external GPU if you want to play demanding games on the laptop.
