Some iOS were unable to use the WhatsApp messages earlier today as the app crashes the moment it is launched.

Around 6:50AM Malaysian time, the online website and app status platform Downdetector showed a spike of reports of the app crashing.

Users also took to Twitter to report what was happening. Collectively they figured out that the bug was effecting on WhatsApp for iOS, WhatsApp Business, and even TestFlight’s WhatsApp beta app.

Some users on Twitter speculate that the bug was caused by the iOS 15.2 update, but it seems that bug is causing the app to crash on older iOS too.

9to5Mac suggested that the bug was caused by a problem in Facebook’s servers rather than the app itself.

WhatsApp has yet to make an official statement.
