The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has taken a significant step towards harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft Malaysia.
The MoU establishes a collaboration between MCMC and Microsoft Malaysia, focusing on the benefits of AI beyond mere technology adoption, according to Bernama.
This strategic partnership aims to explore the socio-economic advantages of AI and equip the future workforce with essential AI knowledge and digital skills by setting up a programme to educate them.
The MCMC-Microsoft AI TEACH Programme consists of four modules:
- Introduction to AI
- Introduction to Generative AI
- Using AI to Enhance Employability
- Ethical Use of AI
The programme will provide training and certification to 1,600 community members near the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI).
The report mentions that vulnerable groups will benefit from this initiative, which aims to increase employability through the MyFutureJobs job matching program under the Social Security Organisation.
The report also added that Microsoft software adoption by MCMC will pave the way for responsible AI practices. The collaboration seeks to set an example for ethical and effective AI deployment.
