Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a leading manufacturer of CPUs and GPUs, has allegedly fallen victim to a massive data breach.

Bleeping Computer reports that the breach, attributed to the cybercriminal group Intelbroker, claimed they have stolen “future AMD products, spec sheets, employee databases, customer databases, property files, ROMs, source code, firmware and finances.”

The hacker group is selling the stolen data on BreachForums, a site where hackers peddle stolen data from individuals and companies.

The company acknowledged the incident and said they are collaborating with law enforcement agencies to investigate the breach.

We are aware of a cybercriminal organisation claiming to be in possession of stolen AMD data.

We are working closely with law enforcement officials and a third-party hosting partner to investigate the claim and the significance of the data.

AMD’s statement

If this breach is real, the fallout from this could be severe:

  • Product Roadmap: The stolen information could impact AMD’s product roadmap and market positioning.
  • Customer Trust: Customers entrust companies with their data. A breach like this erodes that trust, potentially leading to legal repercussions and damage to AMD’s reputation.
  • Employee Security: Employee data, including personal details, is now in the hands of cybercriminals.

AMD has experienced a significant data breach before. In 2022, the group “RansomHouse” claimed to have hacked the company and stolen 450GB of data.
