Yesterday, Poco unveiled the F5 series of mobile devices specially designed for gamers, photography enthusiasts, and tech lovers.
The Poco F5 is powered by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, while the F5 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
The Poco F5 and Pro variant have the same 10-bit 6.67-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, up to 480Hz touch sampling rate, supports HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. The displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Pro has an under-display fingerprint scanner, while F5 uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
But the Poco F5 has a lower resolution of 2400 x 1080 and lower peak brightness at 1,000 nits. While the Pro version has a higher resolution of 3200 x 1440 and higher peak brightness at 1,400 nits.
Both phones support up to 12GB of RAM, but the Poco F5 only support 256GB for storage, while the Pro model can only go up to 512GB of storage. Both are using UFS 3.1 storage.
Also, both phones have similar triple-camera setup: a Omnivision OV64B 64MP main camera with OIS+EIS, a 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. They also shared the same selfie camera, a 16MP sensor.
The Poco F5 has a smaller 5,000mAh battery that support 67W wired fast-charging, and charge the phone up to 100% within 50 minutes.
The Pro variant has a slightly bigger 5,160mAh battery that can also do 67W wired plus 30W wireless fast-charging. Poco claims the 30W wireless charger will take the phone to 50% within 30 minutes, and the 67W turbo charging technology can recharge to the same level in 15 minutes.
Both phones feature LiquidCool Technology 2.0 with a high-efficient Vapor Chamber. Poco said this help improves performance by dissipating heat efficiently and extend the lifespan of the battery and the devices.
The F5 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, while the Pro does not. Both phones have IP53 splash-proof protection, Bluetooth 5.3, support 5G, NFC, and IR Blaster.
Poco didn’t say how many years of OS and security updates these phones will be getting in the press release. But according to Android Police, Poco promises two OS updates and three years of security patches for the phones.
Pricing and Availability
POCO F5 Pro will arrive in Black and White colour options, and can be purchased exclusively on POCO Official store on Lazada from 9 May onwards.
POCO F5 will also be available from 9 May onwards and comes in three colour options: White, Blue, and Black. It is exclusively available via POCO Official store on Shopee.
