Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that mobile network operators (MNOs) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will hold a meeting to discuss mandatory standards for the quality of experience (MSQOE) to ensure better service for users.

He emphasised the MNOs should shift from mandatory standards for quality of service (MSQOS) to MSQOE, after speaking to his counterparts in other Asean countries, according to Bernama.

Fahmi highlighted the need for MNOs to address public grievances, despite their profitability and improving internet speeds.

Additionally, he proposed discussions on implementing 5G and 5G advanced technology for smart cities, suggesting collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall for a proof of concept.

Fahmi also urged proactive urban planning to incorporate in-building coverage as a standard procedure. He plans to engage MNOs in further discussions, possibly during the Mobile World Congress.
