Yesterday, the official Palworld Twitter account announced that the newly released creature-collecting game has reached a milestone of three million copies sold within the first 40 hours.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy, considering the game is still in its early access phase. The sales figure marks a significant increase from the initial one million copies sold in the first eight hours, underscoring the game’s popularity—attributed in part to the unique concept of equipping Pokemon-like creatures with weapons.
Furthermore, Palworld has gained traction on Steam, securing the number one spot in the platform’s most played game (at the time of writing), surpassing titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3.

However, the game was accused of plagiarising Pokemon. Some critics argue that Palworld appears to borrow heavily from Pokemon, particularly in its creature-collecting mechanic involving throwing balls to capture creatures and striking similarities in creature designs.
One user went as far as to present a side-by-side comparison of Palworld and Pokemon creature designs, revealing notable resemblances, including similarities in colour palette usage.
While it remains challenging to definitively prove whether developer Pocketpair directly copied any designs, the observed similarities have not gone unnoticed, prompting discussions around the issue.
If you want to try this game yourself, Palworld is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
