After releasing the web version of Copilot recently, Microsoft finally launched the app version of the ChatGPT-like generative AI on Android.

The app, available for free on the Google Play Store, and an iOS version is reportedly in the works and expected to be released soon, according to Windows Latest.

The app is known as Microsoft Copilot, which is essentially a rebranded version of Bing Chat with some notable differences. While Bing encompasses search, rewards, and chat functionalities in a comprehensive manner, Copilot places a primary focus on its chat interface and incorporates features such as DALL-E.

Unlike Bing, which functions as a full-fledged search engine and AI application, Microsoft Copilot is positioned more as an alternative to the ChatGPT app.

The Android version of Copilot includes a dedicated settings page for customising themes and permissions. Additional features, including history, plugins, and support for Code Interpreter, are expected to be introduced soon.

Despite these differences, Copilot retains its core functionality as a versatile Android assistant supporting GPT Vision, GPT-4, and DALL-E.

The app enables a wide range of tasks, including drafting emails, creating engaging stories or scripts, and summarizing complex texts. Copilot excels in language-related tasks such as multilingual content translation and proofreading.

Furthermore, Copilot boasts plugin support, including third-party plugins, which can enhance tasks like trip planning. Even without access to plugins, the app can generate personalised travel plans and effectively compose and update resumes.

A notable feature of Copilot is the Image Creator, leveraging OpenAI’s capabilities to generate high-quality visuals from simple text prompts, which can be directly saved to the phone’s gallery.

It’s worth mentioning that Microsoft Copilot is compatible only with Android 11 or newer versions.
