The Cabinet has officially agreed with the Ministry of Transport to convert the currently used vehicle driving licenses into a digital format.

However, this will only happen if all the personal data is not kept by the operating company, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi. Also, an implementation date has not yet been disclosed, according to a TV3 news report.

As of today, users can already link their vehicle driving licences to the MyJPJ application. However, this is still voluntary, and physical driving licences are still issued during renewals.

With the upcoming changes, it is unclear how the implementation will unfold. This transformation is perceived as aligning with the broader trend of digitising various processes to enhance user convenience and management efficiency, including cost reduction.
