Earlier today, Tecno Malaysia unveiled a teaser on its official Facebook page, indicating an imminent local announcement regarding their first clamshell foldable phone, the Phantom V Flip 5G, scheduled for launch on 5 October, Thursday.
The Phantom V Flip boasts a Mediatek Dimensity 8050 chipset, a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, and one memory configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Its external circular screen features a 1.32-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a peak brightness of 800 nits. Meanwhile, the internal foldable display is a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2640 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.
This flip phone incorporates a dual camera setup, consisting of a 64MP primary camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera. Additionally, there’s a 32MP selfie camera on its internal foldable display.
The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support, allowing for a 50% charge in just 15 minutes, as per Tecno’s claims.
Other than that, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and running Android 13 with Tecno’s HiOS 13.5 on top.
The Phantom V Flip is offered in two colour options: Iconic Black and Mystic Dawn.
Pricing and Availability
In India, the Tecno Phantom V Flip is available at a retail price of INR49,999 (approx. RM2,832).
If Tecno could launch the phone here around the same price, this is the most affordable flip phone on the market.
We rarely get any affordable flip phones in Malaysia, so this could be a very good alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 that was priced at RM4,499.
