Today at Meta’s Conversations event in Mumbai, the company is unveiling several new features.
WhatsApp Flows
To kick things off, WhatsApp is enhancing its shopping experience for both merchants and users by introducing a new feature called Flows. This feature enables users to perform tasks like selecting a flight seat or scheduling an appointment without exiting the app.
Merchants will have access to various building blocks, including a text box, calendar, and seat picker, to create these experiences. WhatsApp has announced that these tools will become accessible to businesses in the upcoming months.
According to TechCrunch, Nikila Srinivasan, VP of business messaging at Meta said that while e-commerce businesses are currently using Flows, WhatsApp aims to create immersive experiences for a broader range of businesses.
Meta Verified Businesses on WhatsApp
Besides that, Meta has announced an expansion of its Meta Verified program to include businesses, following initial testing on Facebook and Instagram with selected merchants in specific regions.
Meta Verified for Businesses offers several advantages, such as a verification badge, increased reach, and protection against impersonation.
For businesses interested in joining, Meta Verified will include additional premium features. These features encompass the ability to create a customised WhatsApp page that can be easily found through web searches and multi-device support, enabling multiple employees to engage with customers.
The company plans to initiate testing of Meta Verified with small businesses using the WhatsApp Business app before introducing it to businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform in the near future.
