During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2023, Apple announced the next major iOS update, iOS 17. After a few months of beta releases, the company has finally released the update.
Apple has now designated the iPhone Xs and iPhone XR generations from 2018 as the oldest iPhones that are eligible for this update. Notably, this year, the iPhone X and iPhone 8 series lose support with the conclusion of iOS 16.
With iOS 17, phone calls receive some significant enhancements. Apple introduces Contact Posters, enabling users to select a photo (or Memoji) and font that will occupy the entire screen during a call.
Live Voicemail provides a real-time transcript as someone leaves a voicemail message. Additionally, the end call button has been relocated slightly.
There are also improvements to Messages, including a new method for accessing iMessage apps, and thanks to the upgraded autocorrect in iOS 17, your text messages should contain fewer typos.

Besides that, Apple is also releasing iPadOS 17 and WatchOS 10 updates today. For the iPad, only the iPad (2018), iPad Air (2019), iPad Mini (2019), or iPad Pro (2018) and newer are eligible. For WatchOS 10, only the Watch Series 4 and newer Apple Watches can get the update.
