Sonos just debuted its latest portable speaker, the Move 2, which houses a number of big improvements over the original Move.

The Move 2 has a dimension of 241 x 160 x 127 mm and it weighs 3kg including the battery.

While the Move 1 was only capable of playing sound in mono, the Move 2 comes with a completely overhauled acoustic architecture including dual-tweeters that deliver spacious stereo sound and crisp vocals.

The speaker supports Bluetooth 5.0 (SBC and AAC) and WiFi 6 and you can now use them at the same time for increased flexibility – stream via Bluetooth to a stereo pair of Move 2 speakers to expand your space or seamlessly group Move 2 with the rest of your Sonos system via Wi-Fi.

Sonos claims Move 2 offers up to 24 hours of battery life – double the playback time of the original Move – with a USB-C port that can charge your phone or electronics on the go. You can also charge the speaker via the USB-C port using a USB-PD charger or a powerbank.

The speaker comes with a wireless charging base that has a detachable power adapter compared to the hard-wired original. You can also buy the charging base separately.

Other than that, the company claims Move 2 reduces idle energy usage by more than 40%, incorporates recycled plastics, and uses a removable and replaceable battery to extend its product life.

The Move 2 has an ultra-durable design and IP56 rating that can withstand accidental drops, splashes, rain, dirt, and sun. Also, with automatic Trueplay tuning (only for iOS), Move 2 continually optimises the sound for its surroundings, so you’ll always get the best listening experience no matter where you are.

Move 2 is available in Black and White and there’s a new colour as well, Olive. The Move 2 features the same new intuitive user interface as the recently launched Era products, including a capacitive volume slider for simple control.

There’s also a switch on the back of the speaker for disabling the voice assistant (Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa) microphones.

You can also connect your turntable, computer, or other audio source using the Sonos Line-In Adapter (not included).

The Move 2 will be available locally starting 6 October 2023 for RM2,799.

Pre-orders are available at tcacoustic.asia right now and you can head over to the Sonos Concept Store at The Starhill, KL to listen and feel the speaker yourself.
