The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) maintains its commitment to ensure comprehensive telecommunication access across Negeri Sembilan, achieving a 98% internet coverage.

According to MCMC Negeri Sembilan director Mohd Khairilnaim Osman, this aligns with the government’s drive to grant universal internet access through the implementation of the National Digital Network (JENDELA), transforming communication into a public utility, according to Bernama.

“Currently, we have achieved a coverage of 98%, and the remaining two percent will be addressed and planned by 2024. This will involve solutions such as satellite usage and additional fibre connectivity. We aim to provide internet coverage to all populated areas,” stated Mohd Khairilnaim.

He added that the availability of internet facilities for educational, health, and social purposes would extend to all residents, including those residing in towns, outskirts, and interior regions.

During an infrastructure audit and communication quality assessment for the state-level JENDELA initiative at Kampung Orang Asli Baner Tengkoh, Mohd Khairilnaim confirmed the commendable internet reception with speeds exceeding 100 Mbps.

Meanwhile, Shahrol Bonghot, the Tok Batin of the village, expressed appreciation for the telecommunication tower in the area, noting that it significantly improved the Orang Asli’s connectivity with the outside world.

He highlighted that prior to the tower’s installation, they have to leave the house due to the absence of an indoor telephone line and he also appreciates that they have access to the faster internet speeds now.
