Trend Micro Incorporated recently announced the findings of its latest global Cyber Risk Index (CRI) for the second half of 2021.

It found that 67% of organisations in Malaysia think they’ll be successfully attacked in the next 12 months and another with 22% claims that this is “very likely” to happen.

In the second half of 2021, CRI report surveyed more than 3,400 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) as well as IT practitioners and managers across Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, and South America.

The CRI index value goes from -10 to 10. Here, bigger is better.

Currently, the CRI in Malaysia is 0.37, an increase from the 0.08 in the first half of 2021. This shows an improvement in the state of cybersecurity preparedness in the country.

The report also says 87% of the Malaysian subjects interviewed claimed that their company had suffered one or more successful cyber attacks in the past 12 months.

31% had suffered more than 7 cyber attacks that infiltrated networks/systems, 26% had more than 7 data breaches of information assets, and 24% suffered more than 7 breaches of customer data over the past year.
