After making the initial announcement in November of last year, Apple has launched its DIY self-repair service in the US today.
Apple says that its Self Service Repair Store has more than 200 genuine parts and tools to repair iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series and iPhone SE (3rd Generation) at home.
To start, a customer has to get acquainted with the repair manual before ordering the tools and parts they need.
The tools can also be rented for 49USD.
According to The Verge, the parts being sold are roughly the same price as if you’re sending the device into a service centre for repairs.
Customers will only see substantial savings when they resume the old or broken component back to Apple.
Despite the savings, the service is a boon for areas where there are no Apple service centres.
Perhaps those who got good at it could start their own cottage industry of repairing iPhones at home.
According to Apple, this service is coming to Europe later this year. So customers in Asia, and more specifically in Malaysia will have to wait a little longer for the service to arrive.
