The registration for the national digital identification system, available both online and at MyDigital ID kiosks nationwide, has been postponed to May for the public.

Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor, the acting chief executive officer of My Digital ID Sdn Bhd, explained that although the system was ready, its public launch, originally scheduled for March, was delayed to facilitate integration with various websites and mobile applications, according to The Star.

Currently, MyDigital ID logins have been merged with services such as MySejahtera, the MyGov Portal, and HRMIS (the government human resources portal). Integration with PADU is set for this month, followed by MyJPJ at a later date.

Financial institutions – including banks, insurance companies, and ewallet providers – will commence integrating MyDigital ID in May to serve as an eKYC (electronic know your customer) and transaction authorisation solution.

According to Mohd Mirza, the development of the system aims to improve accessibility and user experience.

He stated, “MyDigital ID is more than a platform; it’s a cornerstone of Malaysia’s digital future. Our goal is to empower Malaysians with a secure and seamless way to engage with digital services, safeguarding their privacy and security”.

My Digital ID Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS), revealed that ongoing integration with government agency platforms is underway.

Established in January, the company is responsible for managing and developing the national digital identification system under the National Security Council (MKN).

Mohd Mirza expressed his hopes for the system to be utilised in cross-border transactions in the future and to serve as a model for other countries in implementing their own digital identification systems.
