Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has reassured the public that the Central Database Hub (PADU) remains secure, despite encountering more than two million hacking attempts each week.

He emphasised that these attacks, including Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) and firewall breach attempts, have been effectively mitigated by the prompt actions of the system development team since its launch on 2 January, according to Bernama.

Rafizi disclosed that the government has opted to implement geo-fencing, restricting PADU access to within Malaysia, thereby enhancing its security measures.

Additionally, he reported that as of 10 March, a total of 4,292,912 individuals aged 18 and above, equivalent to 19.5% of Malaysia’s total population, have registered and updated their information in PADU.

If registrations for individuals under 18 are included, the figure rises to 5,946,708 people, constituting 19.8% of the country’s total population.

Looking ahead, Rafizi highlighted plans to reinforce PADU’s capabilities for real-time data updates, facilitating seamless and automatic information sharing among various government departments and agencies.

This initiative aims to enhance policy planning and ensure the efficient implementation of data-driven programs, ultimately benefiting the people.
