Yesterday, Lowyat.net, a local tech site, reported that a group called R00TK1T had allegedly hacked PADU and the national population and family development board (LPPKN), an agency affiliated with the women, family, and community development ministry.
According to the site, the hackers asserted that they had “acquired data from Padu” and purportedly breached LPPKN’s security framework, extracting over 27GB of data from its servers.
After this news surfaced, economy minister Rafizi Ramli posted on X and criticised the site for “happily spreading misinformation”.
Lowyat.net subsequently clarified that the PADU database, which R00TK1T purportedly hacked, specifically pertained to LPPKN’s management and service delivery unit.
Rafizi had previously stated that the team responsible for developing the system thoroughly examined data security, encompassing user experience, from various perspectives during the creation of PADU.
Furthermore, a spokesperson from the women, family, and community development ministry said that the ministry is currently investigating R00TK1T’s assertion of having breached LPPKN’s security network and stole data, according to FMT.
