The government will soon announce a new electricity tariff for Malaysia for the next two years.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan guarantees that the new electricity tariff – which will be effective until 2024 – will not burden the people, especially domestic account holders.
He added that the new tariff would benefit almost 85% of the eight million account holders in Malaysia or approximately 6.8 million account holders nationwide.
The government, he said, has taken into consideration the country’s current Covid-19 affected economic situation when drafting the new electricity tariff.
Meanwhile, the government has also launched the Sustainability Achieved Via Energy Efficiency (SAVE) 3.0 program.
SAVE 3.0 grants a maximum of RM400 e-rebate to households that purchase energy efficient appliances that have received a 4 or 5 star energy efficiency label from the Energy Commission (ST).
The program will run throughout 2022.
