Malaysians now have the opportunity to invest in digital gold securely and conveniently, starting from as low as RM10.

The official launch of e-Mas, a gold investment product accessible via the Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet, aims to empower Malaysians financially and enhance accessibility.

TNG Digital Sdn Bhd’s Chief Executive, Alan Ni, emphasised the transparency of e-Mas. Unlike other similar products, e-Mas has no hidden fees or extra charges, making it an attractive option for investors. The extremely low-entry barrier sets it apart from traditional investment avenues.

However, it’s important to note that e-Mas is currently available only in digital gold format. As a result, it does not comply with Shariah requirements for fully allocated physical gold.

Nevertheless, TNG Digital has appointed CIMB Bank Berhad as the liquidity provider for e-Mas.

Looking ahead, TNG Digital expects e-Mas to attract 500,000 subscribers by the end of the year. Alan Ni attributes this optimistic projection to the positive early response from customers during the product’s pre-launch phase.

Over 40,000 people have already started investing, and TNG Digital remains confident that e-Mas will continue to grow as a popular gold investment choice in Malaysia.

How to start buying digital gold through TNG eWallet?

First of all, update the app to the latest version, open it, and on the home screen, you can see there’s an “e-Mas” icon.

Click on the icon, and you will be transported to the next screen, where you have to agree to the terms and conditions.

After you have agreed to the terms and conditions, you will have to do an eKYC (Know Your Customer) process where the app will take a photo of your face. Once the eKYC is done, you can start investing.

On the e-Mas home screen, you can see the Sell and Buy price and you can even check the gold price that will be updated weekly.

According to TNG eWallet FAQ’s, only Malaysians who are 18 years old and above can purchase gold in the app.

Besides that, you can only buy and sell between 1.30am – 11.30pm, Monday to Sunday and you cannot convert digital gold value into physical gold.
