How To Redeem Free Daily 1GB Internet For 24 Hours On Local Telcos

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission announced yesterday that five local telecommunications companies (telcos) have agreed to extend the free daily one gigabyte (1GB) Productivity Internet offer to 24 hours, from the previous 8 am – 6 pm time limit.

In a joint statement, the operators said this free internet initiative, part of the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA), is effective from 1st July until 31st December 2020.

Here’s how customers can redeem this free internet from the participating telcos:

U Mobile

Active customers can enjoy the free daily 1GB internet from 1 July 2020 until 31 December 2020 –  available to all active U Mobile Postpaid and Prepaid (excluding WeChatGo) customers.

Redemption is automatic but it is subject to technical readiness.

Do note that the 1GB cannot be used for social media, video streaming, gaming and music streaming.

Access to key government apps including MySejahtera, MyTrace and Gerak Malaysia, governmental sites and all calls to the Ministry of Health and Crisis Preparedness Response Centre are free.

Digi Telecommunications

Effective 1st July, free 1GB Productivity is available for all day usage from 12:01am – 11:59pm daily.

To redeem your free 1GB Productivity Internet, simply dial the UMB codes below:

  • Prepaid (Voice & Broadband): Dial UMB *338*1*1#
  • Postpaid (Voice & Broadband): Dial UMB *238*1*1#

This offer is only available to these Prepaid Rate Plans: Digi New Best v1, Digi New Best v2, Digi Smart Plans, Digi Best 2016, Digi Best 2017, Digi Prepaid LiVE, Digi Monthly Plan 28, Digi Abadi and Digi Home Broadband (Prepaid Broadband)

Customers can redeem again from 1st July 2020 and enjoy free 1GB daily until 31st July 2020. The monthly redemption is available until 31st December 2020. The free 1GB is usable 24 hours a day through MyDeals in the Celcom Life App.

The 1GB cannot be used for social media, video streaming, gaming and music streaming.

Users that have at least one line with an active plan on their account will be able to redeem the free 1GB data via the Yoodo app.

The free daily data can be used for 24 hours from the time of redemption, except for social media, video streaming, gaming or music streaming.

The free 1GB internet is available for unifi Mobile Postpaid and unifi Mobile #BEBAS customers.

It is automatically enabled for unifi Mobile Postpaid subscribers while unifi Mobile #BEBAS customers will have to redeem it via the mobile@unifi app and click ‘Buy Now!’ under the ‘Data’ tab.

However, this complimentary daily 1GB LTE pass only works on an LTE network.

Maxis states that the free daily internet of 1GB is available specifically for education and work productivity tools, as well as general web browsing with the exclusion of social media, video streaming, gaming and music streaming.

This offer is available to all active customers and can be redeemed from 8am-6pm daily through the Maxis app, Hotlink app, Hotlink Postpaid app, and Maxis Business app.

However, today’s check on the Maxis website and Hotlink app indicates that this may have not yet been updated.
