The Education Ministry (MOE) announced a remake of its teacher-student online digital learning platform, DELIMa.
The Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia or DELIMa, for short, is essentially a platform that allows teachers and students to take part in education through digital learning either at home or maybe from on top of a tree, as the recent Covid-19 lockdowns had thrown a monkey wrench into the nation’s education system.
The one-year-old application was apparently “remastered” by the likes of global tech giants; Google, Apple and Microsoft.
DELIMa is said to offer the benefits that come from all three major brands and enables teachers and students to switch between applications based on their preference and familiarity.
DELIMa would also allow students and teachers access to contents and e-books from the archives of the National Library, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
According to MOE, DELIMa already has 1.7 million active monthly users from the over 370,000 teachers and 2.5 million students in Malaysia.
The ministry said that since the school shut down at the start of the Movement Control Order (MCO), teachers have been innovating and adopting e-learning methods by utilizing a myriad of applications like Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams as well as WhatsApp and Telegram messengers in order to communicate with their students and allow for learning to continue.
MOE is encouraging more teachers and students to DELIMa in order to facilitate the learning process aside from supporting teachers to discover more creative ways to educate students through digital platforms such as YouTube and others.
