With the Covid-19 pandemic raging on across the globe, one can’t help but feel a bit paranoid over our general health and safety in the outside world, especially with the nation adjusting to life under the new normal with the nationwide Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
For months, we’ve been drilled to maintain our hygiene, cleaning and disinfecting everything that we could think of to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe from contracting the deadly disease.
Keeping up to date with the latest health and safety trends, Proton is introducing a neat new feature to its latest high-end MPV model, equipping it with a smart and contemporary air purification and filtration system.
The Intelligent Air Purification System (PIAPS) is said to combines the benefits of an N95 cabin filter that is able to remove 95% of harmful particles larger than 0.3 microns and 98% of PM2.5 dust particulates, with its High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter that collects 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3 microns, removing foul odors, and cleanse the air in your car with negative ions.
This system is rather similar to the methods used by airline companies on passenger airplanes to ensure air quality whilst airborne.
Proton claims that its PIAPS will essentially act as a sort of barrier against contaminated air making its way into your vehicle, offering some protection against airborne pollutants and contaminants.
Though the system will be fitted on all new X70 models, customers have the option to upgrade their existing dust and pollen filter to the N95 cabin filter for only RM79 (standard service and labor charges applied) at any Proton service outlets nationwide, from May 13 onwards.
