The new AI-driven upscaling technology, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, uses machine learning to add an extraordinary amount of detail, resulting in super sharp image clarity.
PS5 Pro Game Boost not only improves performance for thousands of backward compatible PS4 games but may also stabilize or enhance the performance of supported PS5 titles. Additionally, the Enhanced Image Quality feature for PS4 games improves the resolution on select titles.
Display and Hardware Specifications
Sony has equipped the PS5 Pro with support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and 8K gaming, although these features will only be available on select PS5 games enhanced for the Pro model. The console comes with a generous 2TB SSD, providing ample storage for game installations and updates.
Design and Compatibility
The PS5 Pro maintains aesthetic consistency with the PS5 family of products. It shares the same height as the original PS5 and the width of the current PS5 model. Sony has confirmed that the console will be compatible with existing PS5 accessories, including the PlayStation VR2 and DualSense controllers. Users will have the option to add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and swap out console covers when they become available.

The PS5 Pro will be available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.
For context, the current Disc Drive for PS5 Slim is being sold in Malaysia for RM529. Potential buyers should note that if they wish to use PS5, PS4, Blu-ray, or DVD discs on the console, they will need to purchase this disc drive separately.
