Vivo announced its latest flagship X90 series back in November 2022 in China. There are three variants in China, the X90, X90 Pro and X90 Pro+. The company didn’t say which one will be coming to our shores though. But we reckon it’s going to be at least two, the regular X90 and X90 Pro/Pro+.

The X90 and X90 Pro are packing MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC, while the Pro+ is using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. All of them support up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The X90 and X90 Pro share the same display, which is a 6.78-inch 2,800 x 1,260 AMOLED screen with support for 120Hz, 1 billion colours, HDR10+. The Pro+ has the same screen size, but at a higher resolution of 3,200 x 1,400, and a LTPO4 AMOLED panel that also support Dolby Vision.

The X90 has a 4,810mAh battery that support 120W wired charging, while the X90 Pro has a 4,870mAh battery, 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Pro+ version has a 4,700mAh battery, 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

For camera, the X90 and Pro have triple-camera setup on the back. The X90 and Pro have a 50MP Sony IMX866 main camera, a 12MP 108-degree ultrawide IMX663 camera. But the X90 has a 12MP 2x portrait-telephoto IMX663 camera and the X90 Pro has a 50MP 2x portrait-telephoto IMX663 camera.

The Pro+ on the other hand has four cameras setup on its rear. It has a 1-inch 50MP IMX989 main camera, a 48MP ultrawide lens, a 50Mp 2x portrait telephoto Sony IMX758 with gimbal OIS, and a 64MP 3.5x periscope telephoto sensor. For selfie, all the phones are using the same 32MP camera.

The X90 has IP64 water and dust resistant and using USB Type-C 2.0, while the Pro and Pro+ have IP68 rating and using USB Type-C 3.2. They are all running Funtouch OS 13, which was based on Android 13.

Vivo didn’t provide an exact date of the release, but a Twitter user tweeted an alleged global launch date of the X90 series.

If this is true, the phones are less than a month away from launch. We will be keeping our eyes open regarding X90 series price and availability in Malaysia.
