Late last night, or early this morning, depending on how you look at it, Apple made a slew of announcements at their fall keynote. The ‘Far Out’ event saw the launch of 8 new devices.

That’s a lot to go though so let’s get to it.

What’s New With The Apple Watch Series 8

  • Wrist Temperature Sensing
    • Two sensors. One at the back of the watch, and one under the display.
    • Monitors temperature while sleeping to detect possible health issues.
  • Focus on Women’s Health
    • Uses temperature sensing.
    • Ovulation estimates.
    • Period estimation.
    • Notify users of possible underlying health conditions based on Cycle Tracking records.
  • Crash Detection
    • Uses multiple sensors and new algorithms.
    • New more sensitive gyroscope and accelerometer.
    • After 10 seconds it sends location to emergency responders and calls emergency contacts.
  • Low Power Mode
    • Extends battery life from 18 hours to 36 hours.
    • Disables or limits select sensors and features, including the Always-On Retina display, workout autostart, heart health notifications, and more.
