The new Chromebook, the first in Acer’s series of environmentally conscious Vero devices, was revealed today. It represents the company’s dedication to sustainability by giving consumers and business clients more options that enable them to lessen their ecological impact.

The new Acer Chromebook Vero 514 has post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic in its construction. There is 30% PCR in the chassis and 50% in the keycaps and speakers. The Chromebook also uses ocean-bound plastics for its internal fan housing and touchpad.

The exterior features a paint-free chassis with a cobblestone gray finish and a display panel which is 99% recyclable.

Even though the Chromebook was made from plastics, it passed the MIL-STD 810H testing standards with its reinforced design that protects it from drops as high as 122 cm.

Under the hood, the Chromebook is equipped with up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics. For RAM, it supports up to 16 GB of LPDDR4x memory and up to 512 GB M.2 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD.

The Chromebook has a fast-charging capability and can charge up to 50% of its 10-hour battery life in just 30 minutes.

The 88% screen-to-body ratio 14-inch full HD anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass display boasts 300 nits brightness and a wide 100% sRGB color range. There’s a Full HD flare-reducing webcam and DTS audio with Smart Amplifier for your entertainment and work needs.

For connectivity, the Chromebook has Wi-Fi 6E, and a selection of ports including two USB Type-C, USB 3.2 Type-A and HDMI.
