The World’s Most Powerful AMD Gaming Laptop Also Has A 480Hz Display

If we’re being completely honest, a gaming desktop will always be more powerful and you can always upgrade its hardware. However, because of its size and weight, you can’t carry it anywhere.

But what if you could purchase a gaming laptop that is both portable and powerful? Well, Alienware and Dell have just released a selection of new gaming laptops that might be of interest to you.

The most powerful gaming laptop of them all is Alienware’s m17 R5. This 17-inch beast comes packing AMD’s top of the line mobile CPU and GPU; up to a Ryzen 9 6900HX (8-Core/16 Thread, 20MB Cache, up to 4.9 GHz max boost) and up to a Radeon RX 6850M XT (12GB GDDR6).

If you’re on team green, you can even configure the beast have up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (16GB GDDR6).

The gaming laptop can support up to 64GB Dual-Channel DDR5 4800MHz with 2x DDR5 SO-DIMM slots and you can get storage up to 4TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. The laptop also supports up to Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

To enjoy the games you play in all their glory, the m17 R5’s display can be configured with an up to 4k resolution with AMD FreeSync Premium or NVIDIA G-SYNC and up to a 480Hz refresh rate.

Of course, lets not forget about the keyboard. There are three keyboard options, from a 1.8mm key travel spanning a 1-zone AlienFX backlit keyboard, to a per-key AlienFX backlit keyboard, to the CherryMX ultra low-profile mechanical laptop keyboard with per-key AlienFX lighting.

However, as of writing, neither a price nor a release date for Malaysia have been disclosed for the Alienware m17 R5.

The second most powerful gaming laptop of the lineup is Alienware’s x17 R2. This is also a 17-inch laptop but running an Intel Alder Lake chip with support of up to an Intel Core i9 12900HK (14-Cores/20-Thread, 24MB L3 Cache, up to 5.0GHz Max Turbo Frequency). You can pair it with the GPU of your choice with support up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (16GB GDDR6).

The x17 R2 supports up to 32GB Dual-Channel DDR5 4800MHz with 2x DDR5 SO-DIMM slots and for the storage capacity, it can go up to 4TB RAID 0 (2x 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD). In terms of connectivity, the laptop supports up to Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

When it comes to the display, it can go up to a 4k resolution NVIDIA G-SYNC panel with up to a refresh rate of 360Hz.

What about the keyboard you say? You can choose Alienware’s X-Series thin keyboard with 1.5mm key travel and includes N-Key Rollover technology as well as Anti-ghosting technology, or Alienware’s CherryMX ultra low-profile mechanical laptop keyboard with 1.8mm key travel and per-key AlienFX lighting.

The Alienware x17 R2 is available right now, starting from RM12,099. For that price, you get an Intel i7 12700H (14-Core/20-Thread, 24MB L3 Cache, up to 4.7GHz Max Turbo Frequency), 16GB Dual-Channel DDR5 4800MHz, 17.3″ FHD 165Hz display with NVIDIA G-SYNC, 512GB SSD and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (6GB GDDR6). This is just the base configuration though, you can customize it further to your liking.

Last but not least is a gaming laptop from Dell; the G16 (7620). Despite it not being an Alienware-branded gaming laptop, don’t underestimate this machine. It comes equipped with an Intel Core i7-12700H 14-Core Processor (24M Cache, up to 4.7 GHz), with support up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (8GB GDDR6).

The G16 supports up to 32GB 4800Mhz DDR5 and the storage can go up to a 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. For connectivity, the laptop supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

In terms of display, the G6 has a 16:10 aspect ratio with QHD+ resolution (2560×1600) and 165Hz refresh rate.

For your gaming and typing needs, your keyboard options are 1-Zone RGB backlit, per-key RGB backlit, or CherryMX ultra low-profile mechanical laptop with per-key RGB backlit. These are all full-size and spill-resistant keyboards.

There’s no pricing nor release date for Dell G6 as of this writing.

Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2 are Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos certified and all the laptops come with Windows 11.
