It looks like Apple will be bringing their completely redesigned MacBook Air and updated 13in MacBook Pro to Malaysian shores soon.

Announced during this year’s World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC 2022) keynote, both laptops are now powered by the new M2 chip.

With the MacBook Air, Apple has taken everything users love about the world’s best-selling laptop, and made it better.

Now the MacBook Air has a gorgeous-looking all-new thin design. It features a larger 13.6in Liquid Retina display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera (with centre stage), a four-speaker sound system, up to 18 hours of battery life (video playback), and MagSafe charging.

The all now MacBook Air still has an audio port.

It’s also available in four finishes: silver, space grey, midnight, and starlight. Although we wished Apple would be more adventurous with the colours like they did with the latest iPad Air.

Apple also took the world’s second best-selling laptop, the 13in MacBook Pro, and put an M2 chip in it.

With the added power the 13in Macbook Pro can have up to 24GB of unified memory, ProRes acceleration, and up to 20 hours of battery life.

13in MacBook Pro

We’re so excited to bring our new M2 chip to the world’s two most popular laptops — the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Completely redesigned around M2, MacBook Air is thinner, lighter, and faster with a bigger display, better camera, and all-day battery life, in four beautiful finishes. Only with Apple silicon can you build such a thin and light notebook with a fanless design, and this combination of performance and capabilities. M2 also comes to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, featuring incredible performance, ProRes acceleration, up to 24GB of memory, and up to 20 hours of battery life — making our most portable pro notebook even better.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak.

Although we know that the all-new MacBook Air and updated 13in MacBook Pro will be available in the US next month, we do not know when it will officially be available in Malaysia.

However, we do know that the price of the MacBook Air with M2 starts at RM5,499 (RM5,099 for education) and the price of the 13in MacBook Pro with M2 starts at RM5,699 (RM5,299 for education).

At launch, they will arrive with macOS Monterey. But come fall (end of September), they will be able to upgrade to macOS Ventura which will introduce new features including Stage Manager, and powerful new capabilities with Continuity Camera and Handoff coming to FaceTime.

macOS Ventura also includes big updates to Safari, Mail, Messages, Spotlight, and more.
