So What’s New

Although the Samsung Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 are mid-range devices, it has inherited some features that were once exclusive to its high-end counterparts.

Some of these features are welcomed, some are not, while others are returning hits.

The Good

Camera

The main cameras on all three devices now feature Optical Image Stabilisation, Ai-powered night mode for photos and videos, and Portrait mode.

The Samsung Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 have four cameras each officing wide, macro, and telephoto options.

This means that all three new A Series devices have the same basic photo and video features as the S and Z series.

Display

All three devices use Super AMOLED displays, which is a step up. The Samsung Galaxy A33 has a 90Hz display refresh rate while the Samsung Galaxy A53 and A73 has a 120Hz display refresh rate.

Although high refresh rates have become a standard among mid-range Android phones, having a Super AMOLED display makes a huge difference. It just looks better.

Updates

The Samsung Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 are guaranteed to get up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades and up to five years of security updates.

This prolongs the life cycle of smartphones.

Build Tough

To make sure the devices last long enough to get those updates, all three new additions to the Galaxy A series feature Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and IP67 water and dust resistance

Environmentally Friendly

The packaging for the new Galaxy A series devices uses sustainably sourced paper, while the device itself uses recycled post-consumer materials (PCM) for the side buttons and SIM card trays.

It does not make for great unboxings, but it also means that the device can be easily repacked if needed.

The Bad

Bring Your Own Charger

Just like the Galaxy S series and Z series, now the new Galaxy A series does not come with a charger in the box.

That also means that a compatible charger is needed to take advantage of that 25W Super Fast Charging feature the Samsung Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 has.

Wireless Only

Of course, in the name of the environment, no earbuds are included either, that is because there is no 3.5mm audio jack on the Samsung Galaxy A33, A53, and A73.

The Staples

Some additional notable features available on the Samsung Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 are Samsung Knox, Secure Folder, Private Share, and Samsung Wallet for security; connectivity with the Galaxy ecosystem and Galaxy Buds; and the ability to link to PCs via Link to Windows.

Availability

The Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A73 5G will be available at the recommended retail price of:

  • Galaxy A33 5G: RM1,499
  • Galaxy A53 5G: RM1,849
