ASUS Announces New Strix And Zephyrus Devices At CES 2022

ASUS’s gaming division, Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced a slew of new game centric products at their CES 2022 ROG: The Rise of Gamers event.

These products includes new releases for the Strix and Zephyrus brands.

For the ESports Enthusiast

ROG Strix SCAR (Credit: ASUS ROG).

The new ROG Strix SCAR is designed for esports enthusiasts.

It features Intel’s 12th Gen Core i9-12900H processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti laptop GPU at 150W Dynamic Boost and a MUX Switch for consistent GPU performance.

It also has DDR5 4,800MHz RAM for memory and PCIe 4.0 x4 for storage.

This laptop is available in several screen options:

  • 15.6in QHD 240Hz, IPS panel.
  • 15.6in Full HD 300Hz, IPS panel.
  • 15.6in QHD 165Hz, IPS panel.
  • 17.3in QHD 240Hz, IPS panel.
  • 17.3in Full HD 360Hz, IPS panel.

All variants support Dolby Vision HDR, Adaptive-Sync, and has a 3ms response time.

To complete the look, the ROG Strix SCAR has a large trackpad, an RGB backlit keyboard, customisable armour caps — hinge cover — and lightbars that are all controlled using the Aura-Sync.

When it comes to pots the ROG Strix SCAR offers the full suite:

  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A.
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery.
  • 1 x USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 4.
  • 1 x LAN 2.5G.
  • 1 x HDMI 2.1.
  • 1 x 3.5 mm combo Audio jack.
  • 1 x DC-in.

AMD Powered Options

Also available with up to AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti laptop GPU at 150W with Dynamic Boost are the ROG Strix G15 and GT17.

It shares many of the same features as the Strix SCAR, but with more display options.

The G15 is available with a:

  • 15.6in Full HD 300Hz, IPS panel.
  • 15.6in Full HD 144Hz, IPS panel.
  • 15.6in QHD 165Hz, IPS panel.

While the G17 available in:

  • 17.3in Full HD 360Hz, IPS panel.
  • 17.3in Full HD 144Hz, IPS panel.
  • 17.3in QHD 240Hz, IPS panel.

All Strix models are powered by a 90Wh battery capable of 100W USB Type-C charging and has WiFi 6E.

The ROG Strix G series comes in Volt Green and Electro Punk.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is back now sporting a an AMD’s Ryzen 9 Series processors and Radeon RX 6000S Series GPUs with MUX Switch.

To keep its cool, it is fitted with the ROG Intelligent Cooling complete with liquid metal and vapour chamber.

WiFi 6E comes standard, but for memory and storage it can handle up to 32 GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD.

This is the first laptop to feature ROG’s new Nebula display which is available in 14in, 16:10 QHD with 120Hz refresh rate and IPS panel (500 nits peak brightness).

The display has a 3ms response time and supports Dolby Vision, Adaptive-Sync, and Pantone validation.

For ports the Zephyrus G14 has:

  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery.
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C.
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A.
  • 1 x HDMI® 2.0b.
  • 1 x MicroSD card reader.
  • 1 x 3.5 mm combo Audio jack.
  • 1 x Kensington Lock.
  • 1 x DC-in.

The G14 is available in Eclipse Gray and Moonlight White with the iconic AniMe Matrix display on the lid.

The ROG Zephyrus G15 and M16 have also been refreshed with the latest hardware from AMD and NVIDIA, DDR5 RAM, and WiFi 6E.

Double the Fun

ROG’s flagship dual screen laptop, now the 2022 ROG Zephyrus Duo 16, packs an AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX processor paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti laptop GPU at 165W with Dynamic Boost.

It uses the new upgraded Liquid Metal Conductonaut Extreme compound that ASUS claims can decreases temperatures by 15° C compared to conventional thermal paste.

The 2022 ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 AAS 2.0 also has an intake under the raised secondary screen that is said could generate 30% more airflow.

There are two display options:

  • ROG Nebula HDR
    • 16-inch 16:10 QHD (2560 x 1600) 165 Hz / 3 ms, 100% DCI-P3, Mini LED panel.
  • ROG Nebula Display (Dual Spec Panel)
    • 16-inch 16:10 4K (3840 x 2400) 120 Hz and switchable to FHD (1920 x 1200) 240 Hz, 100% DCI-P3, IPS-level panel.

Other features include ROG’s NumberPad trackpad, backlit keyboard, 6 speakers including Dual Force-Cancelling Woofers, Dolby Atmos, and Hi-Res Audio support with AI Noise Cancelation.

Standing Tall

The Strix GT15 Gaming Desktop got an update and is available in multiple configurations with up to Intel Core i7-12700KF, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 ,and 64GB DDR4 3,200Hz RAM.

It has aa carrying handle, a headphone hook and Aura Sync RGB accents.

Don’t call them man-bags.

Meanwhile ROG also introduced a line of new accessories in the Archer series of bags and backpacks.

The Archer Messenger 14 can fit — wait for it — a 14in laptop and and a few more accessories. It even has a pocket especially for the ROG Phone.

The Archer Backpack 15.6 is the basically the same backpack, but it can fit — wait for it — a 15.6in laptop and “a days worth of gear”.

The Archer Backpack 17 on the other hand has modular compartments. It also has a tripod strap and fits up to a — you guessed it — 17in laptop.

For longer trips, there’s the the Archer Weekender 17. It can be carried as a backpack or a duffle.

It also has a water and stain proof pocket at the bottom for laundry and a heat insulated pocket at the top.

It also fits up to 17in laptop.
