Acer Brings Three New Chromebooks To CES 2022

Acer debuted three new Chromebooks made for those who want a secure, no frills, affordable machine.

The Chromebooks come in three different sized aimed at productivity, entertainment and communication needs.

Acer’s General Manager of Notebooks and IT Products Business, James Lin said these new products will deliver solid performance while remaining economical.

Today’s users need a reliable, easy-to-use means to stay productive, connected and  entertained when they’re at home—these three new Acer Chromebooks fit that bill.

Acer Chromebook Spin 513

The Chromebook Spin 513 features an 8-core MediaTek Kompanio 1389 and promises a 10 hour battery life on one charge.

The Spin 513 has a VertiView 13.5in 3:2 aspect ratio display with 2256×1504 resolution and narrow bezels housed in a durable aluminium case.

The Spin 513 supports WiFi 6 and 4G LTE out the box, features a backlit keyboard, a single USB Type-C port.

Besides that it also has a pair of upwards firing DTS Audio speakers paired with an upwards facing microphone.

Acer Chromebook 315

Under the hood, the Chromebook 315 features an Intel Celeron N4120 Quad-core processor paired with Intel UHD Graphics 600 GPU with a 15.6in FHD IPS display.

Just like the Spin 513, this Chromebook also promises a 10 hour battery life on a single charge, high quality DTS Audio, and WiFi 6 built in.

Unlike the Spin 513, the Chromebook 315 has:

  1. 2x Gen 2 Type-C ports.
  2. 2x USB 3.0 Type-A ports.
  3. 1x MicroSD card reader.

The Acer Chromebook 315 also features full keyboard with number pad, a wide field-of-view HDR webcam with flare reducing technology paired with integrated microphone.

Its OceanGlass touchpad is made from plastic debris found in the ocean and has been made into a glass like material.

This iteration of Acer’s Chromebook also come in a touchscreen variant.

Acer Chromebook 314

The Chromebook 314 is designed for students and families with young children in mind. It’s powered by a dual core Intel Celeron N400 processor and Intel UHD Graphics 600 GPU.

Just like the last two Chromebook products this is also expected to last for 10 hours on a single charge and has WiFi 6 built in.

The 14in FHD IPS touchscreen display features and anti-glare coating and thin 8.1mm bezels lets you experience better visuals while working and having some downtime.

Just like the Chromebook 315, it also features the OceanGlass touchpad.

Since it has students in mind, the Chromebook 314 has two built in microphones and flare-reducing webcam with temporal noise reduction for low light video, and DTS Audio for sound.

In terms of ports, it has:

  1. 2x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports.
  2. 2x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports.
  3. 1x MicroSD card reader

Pricing and Availability

Acer has not made pricing and availability details public for the Malaysian market yet.

The Chromebook Spin 513 will be available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in April 2022 while North America will get it on June 2022.

The Chromebook 315 will available in North America in January 2022 and in EMEA in late Q1 of 2022.

The Acer Chromebook 314 will be available in EMEA in April 2022 and in North America in June 2022.

For reference these are the prices of the devices and its conversion to Malaysian Ringgit:

  1. Acer Chromebook Spin 513 will start from USD599.99 (~RM2511.56).
  2. Acer Chromebook 315 will start from USD299.99 (~RM1255.76).
  3. Acer Chromebook 314 will start from USD299.99 (~RM1255.76).
