Acer Announced The Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition Laptop

Acer recently announced the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition at CES 2022.

This special edition of Acer’s environmentally friendly laptop represents the company’s efforts to reduce their carbon footprint under it’s Earthion initiative.

Made Of Recycled Plastics

The Vero is made up of 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and is unpainted.

The National Geographic (NatGeo) Edition adopts the same textured grey design and yellow dots of the standard edition but adds a topographical map design on the cover.

On the inside the wrist rest sports NatGeo’s iconic yellow border and the spacebar has a message that reads For Planet Earth.

Purposeful Packaging

Usually, the box a laptop comes in ends up in the bin or in a store room.

The box that comes with the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition however, is meant to be used.

It’s inner partitions can be folded into a long wedge that can be used as a laptop stand.

The packaging is also made from 85% recycled paper. They included laptop sleeve and sheet which sits between the display and keyboard is made of 100% industrial recycled plastic.

Easy To Repair

One of the best features of the Acer Vero is how accessible and upgradeable it is.

Sure the keycaps, like the body of the laptop is made out of PCR plastics, but the RAM and SSD are made to be accessible and user upgradeable.

The laptop itself is also designed to be easily broken down to its components for recycling.

Tech Specs

The Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition comes with these two processor options:

  • 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1195G7.
  • 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1155G7.

Both variants are paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics, has a 15.6in FHD IPS display, fitted with 8GB or 16GB RAM, and has a 512GB SSD with preinstalled Windows 11. They also support WiFi 6.

The battery is made up of three Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) rated at 7-hours.

For ports the Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition has:

  • 1x USB 3.2 Type-C.
  • 2x USB 3.2 Type-A.
  • 1x USB 2.0.
  • 1x HDMI 2.0.
  • 1x 3.5mm headphone jack.

The laptop weighs 1.8kg.

Price and availability

The Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition (AV15-51R) will first go on sale in China this month for 5,499CNY (~RM3627.54) followed by France in March for 899EUR.

The laptop will also be available in multiple countries across the Asia Pacific soon.
