WhatsApp has announced on Monday that they are adding disappearing messages which allows users to choose how long they want to display the messages before it fades away.
When the feature is enabled, every private chat will disappear between 24 hours to 90 days, depending on what users prefer.
The messaging app is also adding an option for users to turn the feature on when they create a group chat, for the spicy stuff.
The feature is optional and according to WhatsApp, users will not lose all the normal chat messages that they already have.
The app will let other users know if they are using the feature.
Here is how you turn the feature on by default;
Now, regardless whether users are on iOS or Android platforms, they can follow these steps:
- Go to Settings on WhatsApp, it is the button on the bottom right corner.
- Tap Account and then Privacy.
- Finally, tap on Default Message Timer, from there users can select how long they would like to wait till the messages fade.
Users should also note that they can still forward, copy, or take screenshots even though the chat is set to disappear in 24 hours.
