Modular, Wearable Design
Weighing in at an airy 56 grams, the DJI Action 2 allows users to carry it anywhere with its lightweight and modular design.
DJI says users are able to attach the DJI Action 2 so you can put it on to your helmet to film a first person view (FPV) bike ride, mount it on your surfboard to get right next to a breaking wave, or wear securely on your shirt to create an easy, hands-free video of your tour in a new city.
The DJI Action 2 is claimed to be waterproof up to 10 meters, besides being dust and drop proof. The robust build of the camera should be able to withstand anything you use it for.
The device is comprised of the camera unit and various other modules such as:
- The front touchscreen module.
- Power module.
It also has various mounting peripherals that are interchangeable, offering multiple configurations and options. DJI has really made the Action 2 a little modular beast.
DJI redesigned the Action 2’s touchscreen to make it more user friendly and easy to control so you can focus on making the footage epic.
The camera unit features a 1.76-in OLED touchscreen with an additional OLED panel that you can attach securely on the bottom of the device via magnets.
Don’t worry about cracking the screen as it is protected by Gorilla Glass and it also has haptic feedback to give users more precise controls.
Powerful Imaging System
The DJI Action 2 has a 1/1.7-inch sensor records up to 4K/120fps video, a super wide 155° field of view enabling you to capture your entire surroundings, according to DJI.
DJI also added that their newly implemented Color Temperature Sensor that helps the camera to restore color tones in complex lighting conditions and underwater recording for more natural and vibrant results.
The only thing that the Action 2 has in common with its predecessor is DJI’s proprietary RockSteady 2.0 Electronic Image Stabilisation.
For a new horizon of smoothness, DJI also added the HorizonSteady feature which maintains a level frame throughout the shoot, even when you are not level.
The DJI Action 2 has a run time of 70 minutes on its own, 160 minutes with the Front Touchscreen Module and 180 minutes with the power module.
If you use the DJI Action 2 with the touchscreen module, DJI has included their Matrix Stereo feature which uses a single microphone from the camera unit along with 3 microphones from the touchscreen module to record audio from every direction.
The feature was first seen implemented in the DJI Pocket 2 camera.
Packed With Intelligent Features
DJI Action 2 offers a variety of intelligent features, including:
- Slow Motion: Record video in slow motion at 4K in 120fps and 1080p in 240fps.
- Hyperlapse and Timelapse: During Hyperlapse recording, you can switch to and from regular-speed recording for even more creative options.
- QuickClip: Set the device to take short 10, 15, or 30-second videos.
- Livestream: Broadcast a livestream with a stable stream output of up to 1080p/30fps.
- UVC: Utilize DJI Action 2 as a USB video device class (UVC) for your computer and capture high-quality video for conference calls and live gaming broadcasts.
Unlimited Possibilities
You can use the DJI Action 2 with the DJI Mimo app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to experience even more functions and features such as a live camera feed and story templates.
The Mimo app is designed to help new creators and those who want to churn out content quick.
The app has an intuitive AI Editor which DJI claims can automatically select and combine the footages to create flawless transitions. It can even go as far as adding music for creating videos that’s perfect for social media.
DJI has created a whole ecosystem to go with the new DJI Action 2 that enables better on-the-go content creation with these modules:
- DJI Action 2 Front Touchscreen Module: A front-facing OLED touchscreen and three built-in microphones bring 4-mic Matrix Stereo technology.
- DJI Action 2 Power Module: Lets you get 180 minutes of filming and an additional microSD card slot. A hot-swappable design means you can change between power modules for all-day power.
- DJI Action 2 Magnetic Lanyard: A discrete lanyard to keep your hands free and capture moments from an exciting first-person view.
- DJI Action 2 Magnetic Ball-Joint Adapter Mount: An adhesive base allows users to attach DJI Action 2 to any surface and enjoy 360° of freedom to fix the camera in any direction. A standard 1/4″ screw hole is compatible with most camera accessories.
- DJI Action 2 Magnetic Adapter Mount: This mount securely holds DJI Action 2 in place during extreme sports or demanding scenarios. It includes folding fingers at the bottom to use Action 2 with most third-party action camera accessories.
- Remote Control Extension Rod: A versatile 3-in-1 accessory serves as an extension rod, tripod, and detachable remote controller, to meet all your shooting needs.
