Shell Malaysia and ParkEasy are excited to announce a new collaboration with Visa to enable contactless card payment terminals at selected Shell Recharge sites in the Klang Valley. This collaboration aims to provide a more convenient and seamless charging experience for electric vehicle (EV) users, allowing them to pay for vehicle charging with a credit or debit card. ParkEasy, an innovative parking solution provider wholly owned by Shell, operates Shell Recharge in Malaysia.
The card terminals are now available at four Shell Recharge locations: Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and Pavilion Damansara Heights, for both Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) chargers. To use the terminals, EV users can park at their chosen charging bay, select the bay number on the terminal, and tap their credit or debit card on the contactless reader to pay. A pre-authorisation amount of RM150 will be applied for each charging session paid via the terminal.
To celebrate this new joint initiative, customers who pay for EV charging at these selected Shell Recharge terminals with their Visa card from 15 January 2025 to 30 June 2025 will receive a 10% cashback, capped at RM5 per session. Additionally, ParkEasy app users will also enjoy a 10% credit rebate when they top up a minimum of 50 credits to their ParkEasy account with a Visa card, capped at 5 credits per rebate.
“Shell Malaysia’s collaboration with Visa marks a significant step towards further enhancing the convenience of EV charging for our customers,” said Seow Lee Ming, General Manager, Mobility Malaysia. “By enabling Visa card payments at our Shell Recharge sites and offering attractive rebates for top-ups with a Visa card, we are making it easier for customers to access and pay for charging services, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable experience,” she added.
“Visa is committed to supporting the growth of contactless payments and exploring new use cases such as EV charging. Our partnership with Shell Malaysia and ParkEasy to enable contactless card payment terminals at Shell Recharge sites is a testament to this commitment. Malaysia is one of the highest-penetrated contactless markets, with over nine in ten Visa face-to-face transactions being contactless payments. We are excited to bring this convenience to EV users and to make their charging experience seamless and rewarding,” said Previn Pillay, Head of Global Acquirers, Visa Asia Pacific.
Through this initiative, Visa cardholders can now look forward to a more convenient and rewarding charging experience with Shell Recharge. This programme underscores Shell’s and ParkEasy’s commitment to enhancing customer convenience.
